âš˝ PROJECT OVERVIEW
In celebration of Seattle hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the Georgetown Welcomes the World Committee invites artists to submit proposals for the design of a bold, large-scale soccer ball installation to be placed in front of the iconic Hat n Boots. This highly visible, interactive artwork will serve as a dynamic photo destination and community landmark, celebrating Georgetown’s history, creativity, and global spirit.
The installation will be featured in a social media campaign encouraging visitors to explore, engage, and capture their experience in Georgetown.
The project is presented by the Georgetown Association of Arts & Culture with support from the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture.
đź“Ź INSTALLATION DETAILS
- Soccer Ball Size: Approximately 6–8 feet in diameter
- Soccer Ball should be anchored
- Placement: In front of the Hat n Boots (final siting coordinated with project team)
- Purpose: Interactive, photo-friendly, and durable for public engagement
🛠️ ARTIST SCOPE
Selected artist will:
- Develop a creative design concept for the soccer ball
- Collaborate on fabrication and installation (artist-led)
- Consider durability, weather resistance, and public interaction
- Provide a final design rendering (color + multiple views)
⚙️ KEY CONSIDERATIONS
Design proposals should account for:
- Structural integrity and safety (wind + public interaction)
- Secure installation/anchoring
- Weather resistance (rain, UV exposure)
- Anti-graffiti or protective coating
- A visually compelling, “selfie-ready” experience
